The strong descendents of the Orange Viceroy with loyalty and courage! 124 invaluable victims who spilled their blood while fighting against the red aggressors! Here, we erect this monument to pray for their soul and to commemorate their brilliant achievements.


Wonju Area Battle Monument

Purpose


The 1st Army of the ROK command erected this monument on 15 Mar 1954 to pray their souls to rest in peace and to pay a tribute for their braved course in the ROK Army; 3rd Division, 5th Division, 8th Division, U.S Army; 2nd Division, 1st Marine Division, and the Netherlands Army, French Army who fought against the NPRK Army 5th Corps and Chinese 66th Division that invaded WonJu during the Korean War.


Lieutenant Colonel Owden’s Memorial Monument

Purpose


Despite astonishing achievement of the Netherlands Army, many soldiers devoted their lives at the HoingSung battle area from 12 to 13 Feb 1951.. This monument is built by the 1st Army of the ROK command in Jun 1968 to commemorate LTC Owden and his soldiers who sacrificed their life as a member of the UN Allied Forces fighting for freedom and peace.
